Butter Me Up for National Peanut Butter Day – Jan. 24

By January 23, 2019 No Comments

Peanut butter has stolen our hearts since its advent in 1895! National Peanut Butter Day is on January 24th, so be sure to head to these San Diego eateries touting unbeatable eats infused with peanut butter goodness.

Breakfast Republic is the idyllic way to start your National Peanut Butter Day celebration. Devour a plate of Mr. Presley French toast, stuffed with peanut butter and topped with bananas foster and bacon.

Best known for its farm-to-fork flavors and vintage farm décor, Farmer’s Table’s three locations in La Mesa, Bay Park and Little Italy offers Reese’s & Ice Cream Pancakes, a decadent plate of buttermilk pancakes smothered in Reese’s spread, and topped with Reese’s chunks and creamy ice cream.

Are you a sucker for a classic PB&J? Rest assured, The Duck Dive in Pacific Beach is here to help. The Pacific Beach staple offers their PB&J French Toast, prepared with strawberry jam and house-made peanut butter-infused butter.

Situated in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp District, Lazy Hippo creates a Banana Peanut Butter Caramel French toast, boasting two thick slices of brioche topped with banana, peanut butter and caramel.

At Cafe 222, located at 222 Island Drive in downtown San Diego, owner Terryl Gavre pays homage to the beloved nutty spread with the restaurant’s famous Peanut Butter and Banana Stuffed French Toast. It’s so good, in fact, that it was Bobby Flay’s pick as “Best Thing I Ever Ate” on the Food Network show.

At Salt & Straw, try The Elvis Peanut Butter Banana Split — inspired by the icon’s favorite food (a PB&J-plus bacon sandwich), banana “soft serve” and cashew butter come together with marionberry jam and crunchy peanut butter “bacon” brittle made with smoky toasted coconut bacon candy.

Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey was created and distilled by husband and wife duo, Steven Yeng and Brittany Merrill Yeng. After their Southern California restaurants (OB Noodle House + Bar 1502) served up so many of their unmistakable peanut butter flavored whiskey shots, it only made sense to brand and bottle their recipe. Already wildly popular with locals, the duo behind the whiskey phenomenon began experimenting in the lab to come up with the perfect peanut butter flavor, using only vegan friendly and gluten free ingredients. After years spent perfecting the recipe, Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey was born and was just awarded a Double Gold Medal for Best Flavored Whiskey in the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition.
