There is a look people get the first time they walk into Park 101. There is no hostess to check in with, no regimented flow they are funneled through. Looking around, the space feels more like a plaza, a community gathering space, than a regular restaurant. Almost like a summer version of a ski lodge, where everyone feels at home lounging around, chatting with neighbors, and taking their time over cold beers and comfort food.
Walking into the cafeteria-style line for food, there is some nostalgia getting a colorful tray from the stack and ordering salads, meats, sides, desserts, and drinks down the line. What was unexpected was the tremendous passion for food the staff had. Their pride in the food, and in the experience they’ve created, is remarkable.
Park 101 is very kid and dog friendly on the lower level with turf, games, and family-style tables. For a different vibe, walk upstairs and stretch out on the Tamarack View Deck, a rooftop lounge with fire pits and cozy seating areas. Though they offer dozens of local and international beers on tap (Insiders Tip: try the Banana Nut from London) as well as wine, they hope to get their full liquor license in the coming months.
