Cozymeal connects foodies with some of San Diego’s top chefs, allowing you to experience what it’s like to cook alongside a pro to create a restaurant-quality dish/meal — in the comfort of their home or yours! The classes range from making homemade pasta to the art of the French pastry. You work alongside the chef to prepare the designated dish/meal (most are either 3 course meals, or 2-3 versions of whatever the specialty is), and then you get to enjoy your creation!
One of the coolest things about Cozymeal is that you have the option to come to the “chef’s table” – a space of the chef’s choosing, or invite them into your home for a more intimate cooking experience.
We joined Chef Jordan in his beautiful home kitchen, handcrafting a three-course authentic Italian meal from start to finish. We brought a bottle of wine to sip on while cooking (Italian red, of course!) and was delighted to be led on a journey through some simple yet awe-inspiring Italian classics — including fresh, homemade pasta.
We began with a refreshing Caprese salad laden with juicy heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil, and drizzled with a house-made balsamic reduction. Lemon and orange from the Chef’s home garden accented the plate. As Chef Jordan shares “you eat first with your eyes” and we learned to make a beautiful lemon twirl to garnish. After eating our first course, we started in on the main event — a showstopper of homemade pasta topped with a healthy dose of provincial marinara sauce and served with a lemon thyme chicken breast. Our first time making pasta from scratch, we were thrilled with the end result. We thought we would not have room for dessert, but could not help eating up the final course — a divine vanilla bean panna cotta with blueberry sauce.
Cozymeal is a perfect date idea for the foodie you’re looking to impress! While families and friends also love learning to cook together, the intimate setting of a home kitchen with the fun of putting on an apron and getting your hands covered in flour makes a great date.
