First Taste: Oggi's "City by the Sea" Pale Ale

For over 25 years, Oggi’s has been crafting award-winning microbrews. For those who only know Oggi’s for its delicious food and fun sports bar atmosphere, you might be surprised that with over 50 medals in international, national and regional competitions, Oggi’s is one of the most decorated breweries in the world.  We were lucky enough to try a first taste of their newest creation, the “City by the Sea” Pale Ale. The American Pale Ale (5.0% ABV 45 IBUs) is a smooth, moderately hoppy West Coast-style pale ale with a crisp finish. Hop flavors of blueberry, papaya, and rose blossom enhance the honeydew and strawberry aroma. This beer is straw-colored with a medium-high bitterness. Having tasted severals of Oggi’s menu items (see previous posts: Pizzapalooza and Bring the Heat), the City by the Sea has enough body to pair well with their famous pizzas, while being light enough to compliment their fresh salads.  City by the Sea will be available on tap in Oggi’s|Sports|Brewhouse|Pizza restaurants and Oggi’s Pizza Express SDSU at the end of September.
