By September 23, 2021 No Comments

National Taco Day is October 4th and lucky for us, San Diego has tons of great options. So, in honor of the holiday, we’ve rounded up our favorite spots in San Diego to get tacos – some of which are even offering deals for the day.

Tacos, tunes and tequila… that’s what La Puerta is all about. With Sinaloa inspired family recipes made fresh, you can’t go wrong with tacos from La Puerta. Choose from a variety of tacos from Carne Asada, Cochinita or Pastor to more exotic tacos like Surf ‘n’ Turf or Ranchero Shrimp. All tacos are served with refried beans, rajas con crema and rice. Swing by either their Gaslamp or new Mission Hills locations for Taco Tuesday and enjoy $3 tacos, TJ Dogs and Tecate from 3pm to close. Additionally, happy hour is daily from 3-5pm and includes half off the entire bar, as well as half off appetizers and quesadillas.
Tucked into the hacienda-style Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, Mustangs & Burros sets the stage for an elevated National Taco Day. Their outdoor patio is complete with twinkling lights and a fireplace, ideal for kicking back with tacos and tasty margaritas or a beer. On October 4, Mustangs & Burros will be doing a National Taco Day deal, offering two tacos paired with a Baja beer for $25. Additionally, they’ll have a special menu item that day, Taco de Pulpo a las Brasas, with lemon cilantro pesto marinated octopus, fresh avocado, salsa macha, queso Oaxaca, served on a grilled corn tortilla.
The Blind Burro, East Village’s Baja-inspired hangout, is going all out with deals for National Taco Day to ensure you can fiesta to your heart’s content. On Monday, October 4th, the restaurant will be offering Chicken, Carnitas, or Veggie Al Pastor Tacos priced at two for $8, Carne Asada or Fish Tacos priced at two for $9, and Coffee Rubbed Salmon, Cilantro-Lime Shrimp, or Macha Angus Short Ribbed Tacos priced at two for $10. To accompany the taco selection, The Blind Burro will also be offering $4.50 Buena Cervezas, $5 Tosco Blanco Tequila Shots, $6 House Margaritas, and $9 Diamante Tequila Shots.

Drawing on fresh ingredients and flavors from Mexico City, the tacos at Puesto are packed with a variety of eccentric flavors that are guaranteed to make your mouth water. All Puesto tacos are crafted on a Non-GMO, organic, heirloom Masinda blue corn tortilla and come with a selection of house-made fresh salsas. The Quesabirria, a popular favorite, features crispy melted cheese, braised short rib, Jalisco salsa, pickled radish, and classic guacamole. Puesto also offers a handful of vegetarian options including the Mushroom Taco with garlic braised seasonal mushrooms and stone fruit serrano salsa and the Verduras which features a selection of vegetables including nopales (a type of cactus) and zucchini blossoms. The only thing better than a Puesto taco is a free Puesto taco, so in honor of National Taco Day, when you buy two tacos, the third one is free!

From the wide range of globally inspired tacos to the selection of margaritas, palomas and craft beers, the Pure Taco flavors are guaranteed to have you coming back long after National Taco Day.
