What does San Diego taste like? Craft beer? Fresh fish tacos? Loews embarked on a mission to figure out with a program called Flavor by Loews Hotels, an innovative food and beverage experience. Restaurants and bars are often described as being an “experience” but Loews actually delivers on that with interactive, hands-on opportunities to see, taste, and feel the flavor of San Diego. Walking around the grounds, the citrus garden is home to the kumquat, lemon, and orange trees that Chef climbs his ladder to daily, picking fruit for the day to serve both the kitchen and the bar. Next up is the fragrant herb and plant garden, where plants are sung to by Chef as he waters and prunes them. To stay at the Loews Coronado is to be immersed in your dinner. One such example is Catalina Offshore who has been offering the freshest seafood in San Diego for over 40 years, being served up in Crown Landing at the Loews Coronado. Catalina Offshore Products Seafood Education and Nutrition Center houses its fish market which is led by trusted fishmonger Tommy Gomes. In Baja, most fishing is done with hand lines from small Panga boats to save the environment and preserve natural resources. Fresh seafood is purchased directly from reputable fishermen who are trained in the strict handling procedures necessary to preserve optimum quality. Each guest that orders the local catch in Crown Landing will know where the fish was caught, the fisherman that caught it, the name of the boat and when it docked.
