October 3 – Piemonte Wine Pair Dinner

Contemporary Italian restaurant Maestoso, the popular Hillcrest dining destination that opened in Spring 2018, will present a prix fixe wine dinner inspired by the flavors of Northern Italy’s Piemonte region the evening of Wednesday, October 3. For this wine-paired dinner menu, Batasiolo Wines representative Stefano Poggi has selected four varietals with four courses crafted by Chef Marco Maestoso. All wines served during Maestoso’s Piemonte wine dinner will be available for purchase. October 5 – Salt & Straw Ice Cream Debuts October Spooktacular Series
On Friday Oct 5, Salt & Straw ice cream debuts their October Spooktacular series to celebrate the spirit of the Halloween season. Crafted by co-founder + head ice cream maker Tyler Malek, the series features spooky flavors including Mummy’s Pumpkin Spiced Potion, The Great Candycopia, Dracula’s Blood Pudding, Essence of Ghost and Creepy Crawly Critters — all prepared in small batches. The ghoulish offerings, along with a special Crittles topping (featuring coconut toffee mealworm brittle from the Oakland-based Don Bugito) to sprinkle atop scoops, will be available the Little Italy scoop shop through the end of October with pints available to pick up in shop or for delivery through Postmates. 

October 5-7 – Trolley Dances

Come along for the ride and enjoy the show. San Diego Dance Theater’s 20th annual “Trolley Dances” returns to captivate audiences at Hazard Center, The New Children’s Museum and IDEA1, a mix of apartment homes and commercial spaces in San Diego’s Upper East Village neighborhood. In partnership with Metropolitan Transit System, the contemporary dance series will entertain crowds throughout the county with popular dance numbers from the last two decades, with performances on Friday, Oct. 5, 12 – 2 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday Oct. 7, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

San Diego Dance Theatre will give two hour guided tours that follow the unique storytelling experience, beginning at Hazard Center and continuing along the green and orange lines. Onlookers and touring groups alike will enjoy inspiring dance numbers performed by 50 of San Diego’s most talented dancers.

October 6 – Dinner in Rosso

On Saturday, October 6, the Piazza della Famiglia will transform into a magical Tuscan-inspired evening for Little Italy’s brand new, premier event, Solo Italiano: Dinner in Rosso Presented by PenFed Credit Union. The event features a one-of-a-kind curated and immersive dining experience that encourages guests to dress in their best red attire. While creating a truly authentic Italian experience, the flagship event will also help raise funds for the Little Italy Association to continue its efforts to enhance and preserve the rich history and charm of the community. Tuscan farm tables will line the Piazza della Famiglia for an exclusive family-style dinner featuring endless Italian courses, sips of Italian beverages, strolling Italian entertainment, interactive performances, Gesso Italiano (Chalk Art), dancing and more. Prior to the dining experience, attendees are invited to explore the Luxury Galleria, located on W. Date Street between Columbia and State Streets, for cocktail hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. featuring wine from Mignanelli Winery, olive and vinegar tastings and a pop-up Italian soda bar. The Luxury Galleria also features live entertainment, an exotic Lamborghini model range display, an Italian fashion show by Roberto Cavalli, Gesso Italiano (Chalk Art) and more.  Tickets start at $200 and can be purchased here. The Luxury Galleria will open to the public for free after 6 p.m., so the community can enjoy some of the elements of the event like the Gesso Italiano (Chalk Art), photo vignettes, Lamborghini display, Roberto Cavalli fashion show and more.

Saturday, October 6 – Sunday, October 7 

Inspired by the world’s largest and most revered beer festival in Germany, Music Box will be partnering with local nonprofit and member-based organization, Downtown San Diego Partnership, to throw their very own West Coast Oktoberfest, an event coming soon to Downtown’s eclectic Columbia District neighborhood!

Taking place the weekend ofOctober 6-7, from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, the event will span a 55,000 sq. ft. block of India Street between Ash Street and A Street, and will feature traditional German music, local San Diego restaurants serving up their own twists on classic German dishes, themed contests and plenty of beer to go around, with the added option to purchase a German beer stein to take home. October 9 – Fig Tree Cafe 10 Year Anniversary

San Diego’s restaurant industry is notoriously competitive, which is why Fig Tree Café’s upcoming 10 year anniversary on October 9th is something to truly celebrate! That’s right, this neighborhood staple has been around for 10 years already, and as the first location opened by owner/founder, Johan Engman, who has now opened 11 more restaurant locations total around San Diego, the meaning behind his first location’s 10-year anniversary is indicative of his vast success since then.

Anniversary specials will include a special Fig Pancake for only $1 available all day, plus $10 bottles of champagne with orange juice. October 9 – Harvest Dinner

The start of October means harvesting season has commenced, and Leroy’s Kitchen and Lounge celebrates with a Harvest Dinner consisting of seasonal fruits, vegetables and proteins. The three-course family style dinner paired with Valle de Guadalupe wines begins with a welcome cocktail and continues with heirloom tomato salads, bleu cheese-stuffed figs, seared tuna and more. October 11 – Rombauer Wine Dinner

Napa Valley winery Rombauer is heading south for a very special winemaker’s dinner at Four Seasons Aviara Residence Club’s Seasons Restaurant on Thursday, October 11. Featuring four courses of market-driven fare crafted by Chef de Cuisine James Waters, alongside Rombauer’s distinctive, fruit-driven wines, it’s the perfect way to sample the best of Seasons – and the new fall season.

 Guests will indulge in dishes like handmade pumpkin agnolotti with an autumn fricassee, porcini nage and black truffle paired with Rombauer’s 2015 Merlot, as well as Best Coast lobster salad featuring lobster coral and Pink Lady apple alongside the winery’s 2017 Chardonnay and more. October 11 – Collaboration Dinner

In honor of Filipino American History Month and National Hispanic Heritage Month overlapping, JSix executive chef Anthony Sinsay has invited famed Baja chef Javier Plascencia to collaborate on a dinner celebrating both of their heritages. Guests will enjoy six courses, three prepared by each chef, inspired by the rich trade history between the Philippines and Mexico. The menu consists of diverse dishes, including Chef Sinsay’s Bahay Kubo made with galleon traded vegetables, shrimp and sesame vinaigrette. Another dish guests can expect to enjoy includes Chef Plascencia’s Beef Adobo Baja Sur Style Tamale made with manzanilla olive mole. The dinner is this Thursday, October 11 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The dinner is reservation only and costs $85 with an optional $35 cocktail/wine pairing.

October 11-14 – Havana 1920’s one-year anniversary

The celebration begins with a VIP party featuring live music, salsa dancing lessons, a cigar rolling station and mojito specials and more on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. Guests may register for tickets to the VIP party online at havanayear1.nightout.com.

The festivities will continue throughout the weekend with rum flights and Cuban cuisine. On Friday, Oct. 12, Havana 1920 will offer half-priced rums from 4 to 8 p.m. and a specialty rum flight featuring Ron Barceló rums. Havana 1920 will offer a complimentary dessert for guests on Saturday, Oct. 13. To conclude the weekend celebration, Havana 1920’s café will offer complimentary cafecitos and empanadas on Sunday, Oct. 14.

October 12 – By The Barrel: Whiskey & Wine at Estancia La Jolla

The flavors of the deep South and northern California converge at By The Barrel: Whiskey & Wine, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa’s West coast BBQ bash. This southern-style feast under the stars features a menu of mesquite-smoked tri tip, warm cobblers and other comfort food favorites washed down with whiskey, bourbon and wine tastings. October 16 – Beast Feast

A carnivorous occasion, the primal Beast Feast dinner series caters to adventurous foodies. For this no-holds-barred menu, acclaimed Executive Chef Joe Magnanelli stays true to his credo by using local ingredients while sustainably utilizing the entire animal at CUCINA urbana. After April’s lamb kick-off and July’s journey to the deepest depths with sea creatures, Chef Joe will conclude the whole-animal series this October, serving up the succulence of wild boar. October 17 – Spirits of Latin America

Sip your way through Latin America with no passport required at Indigo Grill on Wednesday, October 17. Sample an array of unique Latin mezcals and tequilas, including El Jolgorio Mezcal, Por Siempre Sotol, Angelisco Tequila, Avua Cachaça, and Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur, paired with a selection of Executive Chef Deborah Scott’s favorite light bites, such as Chile-Lime Chicken Empanadas and Ceviche Tostadas. October 18 – Vine & Din

Primavera Ristorante will host a wine pairing dinner featuring a selection of wines from JUSTIN Vineyards and Winery beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18. The dinner is priced at $125 per person and will feature a four-course meal with wines paired for each course, including: JUSTIN Rosé, JUSTIN Sauvignon Blanc, JUSTIN Cabernet Sauvignon and JUSTIN Isosceles. October 18 – Seven Continents Dinner

Take a trip around the world in one night with Stake Chophouse & Bar’s Seven Continents Dinner—a seven-course dinner paired with seven wines, originated and influenced by each continent. The night begins in South America with a Brazilian Blanc de Blanc from Cave Geisse paired with caviar, soft egg and chives. The international food tour continues through Africa, Australia, North America, Europe and Asia before ending in Antarctica with a glass of McMurdo Dry Valley Riesling. October 18 – Tajima 18th Anniversary

Tajima, San Diego’s go-to spot for authentic Japanese cuisine and ramen is celebrating its 18th Anniversary by offering a special menu item, available only on October 18th at the Convoy location. Tajima will be bringing back the oh-so-popular Wagyu Hamburg, which consists of US wagyu hamburg served with your choice of brown or white rice, spring mix salad, tomatoes, green onion, oroshi radish and miso soup. Guests will also be able to enjoy their choice of salted or garlic edamame and a Sapporo Beer (or fountain drink for those under 21 years old). October 20 – Fall Literary Tea

Bask in the company of New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Kristina McMorris, for her new book, “Sold on a Monday,” while enjoying an exquisite three-course afternoon tea with champagne in the Le Fontainebleau Room at The Westgate Hotel on Saturday, October 20 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. “Sold on a Monday” captures the desperation sweeping through the country in the year of 1931.

October 20 – Oktoberfest

Mavericks Beach Club will be hosting their first ever Oktoberfest featuring German-inspired food, beers and a whole ton of fun! From Noon to 8:00 p.m., come enjoy live music, pretzels, brats and much more! To get in the true spirit of Oktoberfest, lederhosen is strongly encouraged.

October 21 – Namaste on the Bay

Roll out your mat and embrace your inner yogi for the last Namaste on the Bay event of the season. Stretch your way through an all-levels flow lead by CorePower Yoga’s professional yoga instructors on Coasterra’s Harbor Float followed by a gourmet brunch buffet from Executive Chef Deborah Scott. Reward yourself with Cinnamon & Cajeta French Toast Bites, Breakfast Chorizo & Egg Muffins, Raspberry & Chocolate Chia Seed Pudding, and more! October 23 – Mommy & Me Paint Day

Park 101 will be hosting a Mommy & Me Paint Day, on Tuesday October 23rd. For $25 per child, or $40 per mother/child combo, all paint supplies will be provided including brushes, canvas, paint and aprons, incase things get a little messy. During the event, moms can also look forward to $15 bottles of Cupcake Prosecco or Rosé, which will really get the creative juices flowing. Check in is at 11:30 a.m., the event begins at Noon and tickets can be purchased by visiting Park 101’s Facebook page.

October 25 – Shop for Kids

Connecting to its mission of charitable giving, Flower Hill Promenade has created a very special event called Shop for Kids: A Rady Children’s Happening on Thursday, October 25. Del Mar’s shopping center is collaborating with the state-of-the-art children’s care center to bring a day filled with giving back. Spend the day shopping from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., where 10 percent of proceeds at participating merchants will benefit the Sam and Rose Stein Emergency Center at Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego to care for critically ill and injured children.
 
Afterwards from 4 – 6 p.m., head to the West Courtyard where a delightful Wine & Cheese Reception awaits, curated by Venissimo Cheese and Wine Connection. For a variety of fall fashion inspiration, TRE Boutique will present a fashion show while music plays. A $20 ticket is required to attend the Wine & Cheese Reception, which can be purchased online here.

October 25 – Bao Bun Pop-Up at You & Yours Distilling Co.

Continuing a string of popular bao bun pop-ups, Kettner Exchange will collaborate with local distillery You & Yours Distilling Co. to offer a menu buns and beverages. Offerings will include Executive Chef Brian Redzikowski’s Tenderbelly Farms pork belly bun topped with sesame, cilantro, peanut, cucumber, gochujang and hoisin; the Abalone Mushroom “Big Mac” complete with special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun; and a decadent Shawarma Pastrami bun. Accompany these savory bites with cocktails featuring You & Yours’ signature spirits.

October 27 – Navy vs. Notre Dame Football Tailgate

PB Shore Club is hosting a Navy vs. Notre Dame Football Tailgate, sure to be the party of the year. The VIP Tailgate and Ticket Package includes one ticket to the game, held at SDCCU Stadium, a pre-game drink at Shore Club, party bus to the game and access to a four-hour, all-inclusive tailgate with food, drinks and DJs. October 27 – Ben & Jerry’s Day at Devil’s Dozen

As an homage to his favorite ice cream brand, Executive Chef Brian Redzikowski has planned a menu of specialty donuts available for one day only. Inspired selections will include brownie batter, half-baked, karamel sutra, phish food, Americone dream, red velvet and cannoli. Each donut will feature flavor profiles found in the signature ice cream selections and are sure to make for a delicious morning.

October 27 – Julie’s Light Gala

The event will be held at The Facility dance studio in Pacific Beach – ‪1414 Garnet Ave. San Diego, CA‬ ‪on Saturday October 27, 2018 from 6pm-9pm‬. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Your ticket to the gala includes: dinner, a live show, one raffle ticket, your chance to bid on some awesome things in the silent auction, and your chance to see/bid/buy some amazing art pieces. It’s called Julie’s Light in honor of Julie Strange who lost her battle with cancer September 2018. This is an opportunity to come together for everyone to show strength for those who are battling cancer and to raise awareness. The money raised goes to the American Cancer Society.
