5th Annual Taste of Santa Ana
Eat, Drink, Be San Diego takes to the road to discover some of the best bites and beverages that So Cal has to offer. This drive took us north to Santa Ana.
What better way to kick off the beginning of summer than a taste of what the local community has to offer.
This year’s Taste of Santa Ana was held at Mainplace Mall on May 19 in North Santa Ana. The large space allowed for the planners to construct an event that held mass appeal to attendees of all ages. In addition to offering tastes from over 50+ food and beverage vendors, the event also offered kid’s games and activities, charity raffle, and a photo booth –making this a fun family event.
Hosted by the Assistance League of Santa Ana and the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, the 5th Annual Taste of Santa Ana encouraged visitors to explore the local cuisine and sips of Santa Ana.
While general admission offered unlimited tastes, games and entertainment, and a photo booth, the VIP ticket also included covered seating, exclusive tastes from higher end vendors, like this year’s Morton’s Steakhouse, and an open bar serving bottle beer, wine, and two signature craft cocktails. VIPs also enjoyed private lawn games (Jenga, Connect Four, and cornhole) and proximity to the live bands playing on stage.
Bands Pop Gun Rerun and Cold Duck dazzled the crowd with their renditions of classic 80s songs, while some of the vendors also dazzled our tastebuds. Highlights from this year’s Taste of Santa Ana include the fresh shrimp ceviche on tostadas from Cancun Juice, the generous and flavorful portions of chicken, rice, and hummus from Panini Kabob Café, and the delectable pies from Polly’s Pies. Beverage options ranged from the Belgians of Charlies Beer Company, to a select pour from Native Son’s Alehouse, and wine selections at the Double Tree and craft distilled spirits from Blinking Owl Distillery.
