Cloak and Petal, the artful Japanese restaurant in San Diego’s Little Italy, has opened a new concept within the space, Shibuya Nights. Adorned with graffiti art, a canopy of cherry blossoms, sassy neon signage, and origami bird lights hanging over a prominent bar, Shibuya Nights is sure to be one of the neighborhood’s new hotspots.
Owner Cesar Vallin created an open dining and lounge space and remodeled it to keep with the Tokyo underground theme throughout the restaurant. He’s also incorporated colors and art influenced by the eclectic Harajuku district. Shibuya Nights offers a limited food and drink menu, separate from Cloak & Petal’s sushi-based menu, where guests can experience a different variety of Asian-fusion dishes. The Chicken and Waffles is an innovative take on the classic dish, combining Japanese chicken karaage with tempura eggplant in lieu of waffles.
