There is a New Top Ramen in Town: Tatsuki Arrives in Downtown San Diego

On August 8th, Artisan Noodle TATSUKI will open its doors at 531 Broadway, right next to BIGA in downtown San Diego. It’s Chef Daiki Tanaka first solo ramen restaurant, but the 35 seat restaurant will quickly become a force to be reckoned with on San Diego’s ramen scene. The simple menu focuses on three styles of ramen: Tonkotsu Ramen, Spicy Miso Ramen, and Tsukemen, along with two kinds of pork buns as side dishes.

Those looking for a classic ramen dish should order the Tonkotsu ramen with its creamy, pork-based broth. Tanaka’s decadently rich version takes over two days to make.

Seekers of heat should look no further than the Tsukemen, known as the dipping ramen, which is served with the noodles arriving alongside the bowl of soup.

My favorite, though, is the intense Spicy Miso Ramen made with his delectable, umami-packed original miso paste.

Ramen connoisseurs take note of his Ajitama (soft-boiled ramen eggs), which reach new levels of perfection.

The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Saturday. Lunch will be served 11 am-3 pm (2:30 pm last order); dinner, 5 pm-10:30 pm (last order 10 pm).
