Just like Nat King Cole sang: “That’s why darling, it’s incredible… that some place so unphogettable… thinks that you are… unphogettable, tooo-oooo.”
Oh…. is that not how it goes? Well it should because pho is so good, it deserves its own crooney song.
And after a year where COVID-19 emphasized the importance of good health and supporting local businesses, many are resolving to eat healthier and local in 2021. This new year, many of us (myself included) have resolved to reset, and focus on goals to eat healthy and support local!
Thanks to OB Noodle House, these two resolutions don’t have to be mutually exclusive! San Diego’s favorite, and most renowned, noodle shop OB Noodle House, is supporting your healthy resolutions while allowing you to support local — all from the comfort of your own home! And with the cold (ok it was 84 degrees yesterday in San Diego, but it gets down to 50s at night!), nothing beats a warm bowl of noodle soup to quench your comfort food cravings!
The restaurant is aptly named because if they’ve got noodles! Egg noodles, chow fun, pho… they’ve got your their long pasta game down like the experts they are. But don’t forget about Bun vermicelli, one of my all-time Vietnamese favorites. It is a thin rice noodle (perfect for the gluten-free crowd) served with different types of veggies and protein of your choice. Throw the fish sauce and hot sauce on there you won’t regret it!
And without question, OB Noodle House’s pho game is on point. Richly-flavored and made in-house, this satisfying dish includes rice noodles in a well-seasoned broth that will get your umami-loving salivary glands rarin’ to slurp the bottom contents of the bowl. Your pho order also comes with green onions, cilantro, Thai basil leaves, bean sprouts, jalapeños and lime. It’s the perfect option to kick off a New Year’s resolution as it is light while being protein-rich and satisfying.
Opting for better health in 2021 means skipping the deep-fried appetizers (my favorite is the fried egg rolls, but we’re talking healthy here… focus… focus….) and picking something lighter. Their lettuce wraps pack in the protein and veggies and skip the fat and carbs, without sacrificing any of the taste! They feature a filling of marinated tofu mixed with green onions, water chestnuts, mushrooms and garlic; served in crisp lettuce cups.
Fish has excellent health benefits, including heart and brain healthy Omega-3s. OB Noodle House’s sizzling fish features freshwater Vietnamese Basa topped with caramelized ginger, scallions, garlic and cilantro and is served with rice. This is a great dish for those looking to decrease their red meat consumption, without cutting back on the flavor!
