Featuring coastal Italian inspired cuisine in a welcoming and casual setting, Verandina has opened its doors to the Imperial Beach community.
Verandina’s menus from Executive Chef and Owner, Marco Provino, features flavorful dishes inspired by Italy’s coastal towns, but with a recognizable California flair. Timeless Italian techniques passed down from Provino’s family are combined with fresh ingredients. Guests will find approachable, seasonally-driven plates that with a surprising amount of Gluten Free options. A selection of Antipasti start the menu off with options like Octopus a la Plancha with crispy kale and Truffle Arancini with porcini mushrooms, truffle, mozzarella and pesto aioli.

Next are Verandina’s Burgers and Flatbreads, which are far from traditional. The Veal Cotoletta Burger, for example, offers bread crusted veal medallions, spicy provolone, roasted tomato and garlic chipotle aioli. Pastas include standards, like Fettucine and Lasagna, as well as a few signature dishes, like Orecchiette cime di Rapa with fennel sausage, broccolini, pecorino cheese, and Linguine ai Ricci with sea urchin filet and emulsion.
Risotto with radicchio, proscuitto, marscapone creamy sauce
Move on to Entrées, where Provino added a flavorful New York Steak with porcini mushroom truffle sauce and smashed potatoes, as well as Swordfish alla Palermitana with mixed greens and salmoriglio sauce. Rotating Chef’s Specials will include standouts like a Chilled Seafood Platter, Bone-in Stuffed Lamb Chop and Whole Lobster.

Verandina’s bright and rustic interior features two levels to enjoy. A lower level dining room and bar boasts nearly a dozen taps, plus an extensive list of bottled beers, wines and cocktails. An outdoor, dog-friendly patio on Seacoast Drive will put diners front and center on I.B.’s main drag, making it the perfect beach escape for a bite and drink. Upstairs is Verandina’s ocean view dining room, perfect for dinner with a view, a sunset toast, or any celebration. The intimate space will also be available for private events.
