On Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16th, San Diego’s favorite restaurants are serving up patriarch-approved plates to treat dads to the delicious day they deserve.
Celebrate “festa del Papà” with two of dad’s favorites – steak and shrimp – at Primavera Ristorante. The popular family-owned and operated Italian restaurant will prepare a decadent dinner dish, occhio di costola e gamberetti, for the holiday: an 8-ounce rib-eye steak topped with grilled shrimp in balsamic port wine reduction sauce, served with whipped garlic butter potatoes and sautéed Italian vegetables, priced at $49.99.
Dig in and drink up with Dad this Father’s Day with a featured steak and wine pairing at BANKERS HILL BAR + Restaurant. Chef de Cuisine Jason Gethin will prepare a 10-ounce New York steak and seasonal vegetables for the occasion, paired with a glass of Chappellet Mountain Cuvee, priced at $40.
Theatre Box will make fathers the star of the show with featured food and beverage offerings. At Sugar Factory American Brasserie inside Theatre Box, bottles of beer will be available for $1 with the purchase of a steak entrée, including: Black Angus filet and lobster surf and turf; New York strip steak frites; and more. Sugar Factory American Brasserie will also offer a Monster Burger and beer combination for $20. Each signature Monster Burger is made with an 8-oz. Angus beef patty piled high with toppings, including: The Big Cheesy, topped with mac ‘n’ cheese and Applewood smoked bacon; Blue Cheese Bacon Burger, Applewood smoked bacon, blue cheese crumbles, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, Sugar Factory sauce and crispy onions; among others.
Havana 1920will offer a signature drink and dish combination for the holiday: Caipirinhas and bistec Havana. Select caipirinha cocktails will be priced at $5 each, including Clasico, made with Leblon cachaça, lime and cane sugar; One Night in Rio, a combination of strawberry and jalapeño infused Leblon cachaça, cucumber, lime and demerara; among others. The bistec Havana, an Angus skirt steak topped with house-made chimichurri and served with grilled Cuban bread, plantains and Caribbean avocado salad will be available for pairing.
Mezé Greek Fusion will whisk fathers away to the Greek isles with two featured food and beverage pairings. The first pairing includes a Greek beer and Mezé burger, ground beef and lamb mixed with feta cheese, garlic, onion and mint, topped with sautéed onions, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, fiery feta and garlic aioli, served with Mezé fries or Greek salad; available for $20. The second pairing features the restaurant’s signature lamb shank, braised in red wine, fresh tomato sauce, cinnamon and black pepper, served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Fathers may pair the lamb shank with a glass of house red wine for $1.
Prohibition will take fathers and families back to the 1920s with a featured cocktail offering. The speakeasy’s signature Old Fashioned, made with Wild Turkey Russel’s Reserve 10-Year Bourbon, demerara syrup, R&D aromatic #7 bitters and R&D cherry apple bitters garnished with an orange peel, will be priced at $1 for guests who show a photo of their dad to the bar.
El Chingon will give dads a bite of Baja with a featured food and beverage pairing: fajitas and margaritas. El Chingon’s Bad Ass Fajitas include the choice between Angus steak, chicken or shrimp flambeìed tableside with onions and bell peppers, served with Mexican citrus cream, pico de gallo, guacamole, chiles toreados, rice, beans and warm corn tortillas. The Papárita margarita flight includes samplings of El Chingon’s signature Madero cocktail, a combination of Azuñia Blanco Tequila, house-made watermelon cordial, fresh lime and Tajín; traditional frozen margarita; and Battle of Juarez, made with Olmeca Altos Blanco tequila, lemon, ginger, honey, St. Germaine and Ancho Reyes Verde.
Dough Nations in Barrio Logan will feature pizza, pint and pitcher offerings for the holiday. Dough Nations will offer a complimentary slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza with the purchase of a pint of beer. The second pairing, priced at $20, includes a pitcher of beer with an entire classic pizza. Select pizzas include margherita, made with sliced tomato, mozzarella, garlic, olive oil and house-made pizza sauce; white, made with garlic, extra virgin olive oil, mozzarella and ricotta; meat supreme, topped with pepperoni, sausage, meatball and house-made pizza sauce; among others.
From 1 – 9 p.m. on Father’s Day, enjoy bay views and a delectable meal of seafood and steak at Island Prime. Choose from entrees such as an herb crusted salmon, buttermilk fried chicken, prime New York strip and a mustard-crusted prime rib. $49.95 for a 3-Course Feast.
